Members of The Fairmount Society, Wichita State University’s most distinguished support group, were honored at an annual dinner on May 6th. Membership is extended to donors whose total outright giving is one or more million dollars. Dr. Debbie Haynes and her husband, Dr. Larry Beamer and J.V. Lentell were spotlighted in the videos that we produced for the event that honors community involvement.
In the Community
We sponsored Opening Doors Breakfast, a fundraising event for Wichita Habitat for Humanity that was held at Exploration Place. Presented during the breakfast was a video that we produced showcasing two families that received housing and the volunteers that made it possible. The funds raised at the event will go to providing affordable housing in Wichita and we’re always happy to be able to lend a helping hand to local causes.
In the Community
We’ve been supporters of the Midian Shriners for many years now and this year, we donated our services and produced a commercial for their circus that will be held at Intrust Bank Arena. We designed and animated the fun characters, in hopes of increasing awareness and helping their efforts of providing free medical care to children. This circus is an excellent opportunity for family fun and in support of a great cause.
Learning Opportunity
Get to know Zack, one of the students that were featured in four new spots that we produced for McPherson College. We went with a sleek, clean, motion graphic-heavy approach to promoting the university’s extracurricular activities. Watch for this spot and the three others that are currently airing in the South Central Kansas area.
Best of Broadcast
The American Advertising Federation of Wichita presented their 2011 ADDY Awards on February 17th at CityArts, where we walked away with 9 awards and provided production services for 3 other award winners. The casual mixer was a great format to mingle with more than 100 of our advertising friends.
We were honored to receive the coveted Best of Broadcast award for the popular “It’s Time to Man Up” spot that we produced for local clothier, Gentry Ltd. Entries were judged on creativity, originality and creative strategy and we appreciate the opportunity to show our work. Congratulations to all of the winners!
Business of the Year
Intake Studio is one of eight small businesses in the state to be recognized as an Existing Business of the Year by the Kansas Small Business Development Center. The small businesses were chosen based on how they maneuvered through the year’s economic obstacles and shifted priorities or operations to remain profitable. The KSBDC helps entrepreneurs and small business owners start and grow their businesses through professional consulting, training and resources and working with them has been invaluable. The ceremony in Topeka is on March 15 and you can bet we’ll be there!

Managing Producer
We’re crazy excited about what goin’ on at our Kansas City office thanks to the talents of Katie. And around here we love to promote deserving employees. That’s why we’ve named her Managing Producer as she takes on new responsibilities and helps Intake grow and continue to focus on clients. She remains your point of contact for the Kansas City division and looks forward to filling the producing shoes!
Associate Creative Director
We’re proud to announce the promotion of Brian Simpson to Associate Creative Director. Brian, who is located at our Kansas City division, joined Intake Studio as a Motion Graphics Artist in the summer of 2010. A skilled veteran of design and editing, he brought with him five years of motion graphic experience. He holds a Master of Fine Arts and spent three years at Barkley Evergreen and Partners, Inc., where he worked on Sonic Drive-In and Lee National Denim Day commercial campaigns, as well as the music video ‘Caney Mountain,’ which garnered a silver national ADDY Award in 2009.
Brian embodies all of the qualities needed to help Intake grow by providing a great product and continued support to Intake’s customers. His strong aesthetic, experience and commitment to our clients have proven valuable for the team.
Holiday Closing
We’re closing up shop to spend time with our families on Friday, December 24th and we’ll be back on Monday, January 3rd. If something comes up during that time, please e-mail troy@intakestudios.com. Otherwise, we’ll talk to you as soon as we return recharged and energized in 2011.
From all of us here at Intake, our sincere thanks for your loyalty and good will throughout the year. Happy Holidays!
Feliz Navidad
Around here we play just as hard as we work. Apparently, some employees work a bit harder than the rest, like those that had their moment of shame glory on the party bus pole.

It was a good time enjoying Wichita’s beautiful Christmas lights and we had some great Italian food in Mulvane. Many thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate the holidays and have a memorable time.
